SAPO ACTIVITIES

OUR CORE ACTIVITIES

To conduct profound research on the use of hard drugs assessing the myth in the communities

  • The use of questionnaires and focus group discussions in primary, secondary and tertiary schools
  • The use of questionnaires in the rehabilitation centres with victims and after the workshops

To equip the children from 10 years of age with the knowledge about drugs

  • Do informative games and talk shows with kids. 
  • Carry out workshops in private and public schools 
  • Engage in public meetings with people in communities through road shows
  • Organize sponsored marches with the help of the community members, students from schools and colleges

Liaise with the rehabilitation centers

  • To function as a nexus between the rehabilitation centres and the communities
  •  To convince and help drug addicts to go for rehabilitation at no costs or that which is covered by our sponsors

To produce mass media messages about drug abuse education and its detrimental side effects.

  • The use of advertisements of the victims in rehabilitations once involved in drug abuse both on television and on radios
  • Produce posters and newsletters that will convey the effects on drugs to the public at anytime
  • To carryout SAPO sponsored march in the province; with representatives from each school and college, this is turn to gain public support.

To liaise with the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Metro Departments

  • To have a close proximity with the SAPS and Metro Departments through reports 
  • Communicate with the SAPS and Metro when we undertake our functions and campaigns. 
  • Policing in Gauteng has effectively done by a variety of different law enforcement agencies, of which the South African Police Service (SAPS) is the largest and carries the most responsibility. The SAPO function in a close proximity and posted by SAPS and Metro Departments. To liaise with the Community Safety Department  and the Correctional Services

PROJECT PLAN

The project plan is centered on capacitating and empowering children at school going ages as well as young adults who have left school and were either not absorbed in the tertiary sphere or were not successful in matriculation 

 

The motto for all our programmes is that “knowledge is power” and is paramount in molding overall citizens. SAPO notes and takes into account the need for young adults to be self-sufficient and will thus assist this demographic in accessing work opportunities as well as business opportunities available to them in the medium to long term.
